Dr. Lyndsey McTavish
Dental Surgeon – BDS (UWCM), MFDS, RCPS (Glasg), Dip Clin Dent (TCD) Dip Con Sed. (TCD).
Dr. Lyndsey McTavish qualified from University of Wales, College of Medicine in 2003. After working for a couple of years in her homeland of Scotland she joined Swords Dental in 2005. Lyndsey took over the running of the practice from her father in law Dr PJ Lynam.
Lyndsey enjoys keeping up to date with modern dental techniques and attends a variety of postgraduate continual dental education events. She has a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Dentistry from Trinity College Dublin and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow.
Lyndsey is particularly happy to help nervous patients. Lyndsey has completed her Diploma in Conscious Sedation and undertakes sedation in the practice. She is a member of the International Society of Dental Anxiety Management.
Her friendly and relaxed approach will help make your visit to the dentist an easier experience.
Dr. Geraldine O’Hagan
Dental Surgeon – B.D.S. (Q.U.B.)
Dr. Geraldine O’Hagan is from County Tyrone and joined the practice in the 1980’s. Over the years Geraldine has built up a loyal patient base including many families. She like to take a longterm approach to treating her patients with an emphasis on oral hygiene and diet. Geraldine is a devoted Mum and a keen bridge player.
Dr. Frank E. Ormsby
Dental Surgeon – B.Dent Sc., Dip.Clin.Dent., DGDP MJDF., RCS. (Eng), FICD.
Frank is a graduate of the Dublin Dental School and Hospital and has over twenty five years experience in dentistry. He has actively pursued the highest standards in general dental practice and has consistenly pursued continuing education and courses to keep apace with modern dentistry. His natural understanding of patient anxieties and emotions and the requirement to tailor fit treatments to financial circumstances has ensured a loyal patient base in north Co. Dublin. He is a founder member of the Irish Faculty of Primary Dental Care and a past national co-ordinator of the Vocational Training Scheme in Dentistry. In recognition of his contribution to dental education he was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentistry in Vienna in 2011.
Frank welcomes a challenge and believes in a joint understanding and approach between himself and his patients to restore and maintain a healthy mouth.
Frank has received the joint NIDM/STRAUMANN/IFPDC certification in implant dentistry.
Dr. Eimear McHugh
Eimear is a member of the Irish Dental Association and the Irish Association of Oral Surgery. She is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.Dr. Eimear McHugh graduated with Honours from Trinity College Dublin in 2008.
Following a year as a House Officer in the Dublin Dental University Hospital, she was employed in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex. During this time, Dr. McHugh completed her Membership Examinations for the Faculty of Dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. She also obtained certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support.She then became the Executive Registrar in the Dublin Dental University Hospital and provided Oral Surgery services at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children.She completed her specialist training over three years at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, where she was awarded a doctorate in Oral Surgery and graduated with First Class Honours.
In 2014, following her specialist training, Dr. McHugh became a Fellow of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.Dr. McHugh currently holds a teaching post at the Dublin Dental University Hospital and she is listed on the Consultant Register in the Beacon Hospital and the Mater Private Hospital.
Dr. Donal O’Mahony
Dental Surgeon – B.D.S. (N.U.I.) L.D.M. (Canada)
Dr. Donal O’Mahony is a vastly experienced dentist who joined the practice in 2001. Donal has previously worked in the UK and run his own practice in Canada over many years. He has opened his own practice in Ballsbridge but still works with us in Swords on a regular basis.
Donal has a particular interest in advanced restorative work including crowns, veneers, bridge work and root canal treatment. He has huge experience in these areas and has successfully completed many complex cases over the years.
He has also completed his training in dental implants.
Dental Hygenist RDH
Paula joined Swords Dental in 2007. She received a certificate course in dental nursing in 1999. Paula then completed a diploma course in dental hygiene in university college cork. During the course she was awarded the communicator award by the university. Paula has worked as a dental hygienist at the practice from 2007-2016. She has completed a course in smoking cessation by the HSE as well as an updated CPR-EAD course. Paula has been a member of both the Irish dental hygienist association and dental council. “I am very passionate about oral health and I continue my education by regularly attending conferences and seminars”.
In 2017 on the retirement of Carol Harrington Paula decided on a change of direction and has become our new practice manager. We are very excited to have Paula in this position and know that she will bring her great enthusiasm and friendly nature to this new role.
Carol is the practice manager and has worked in the practice since she left school. Carol has been dealing with patients for over twenty five years and is known and loved by many of them. Carol enjoys talking to people and likes to make any nervous patients feel at ease.
